Here’s an exclusive Industry Influencer Q&A with the company’s Managing Director of North America Matt Powell . parts of the world, one distributor might service all verticals; here, there are often multiple distributors and integrators for one single state that specialize in one vertical. If we view video technology in terms of waves, with the first wave being analog cameras and DVRs, the second being IP cameras and VMS, think of how quickly that transition happened – and now the North American market has been driving toward a new third wave of AI-driven software algorithms and neural networks. We have been a third wave platform in a market that was second wave for a long time, but now the North American market is catching up and we are eager to lead the way. There is this notion in the market that ISS is just another flavor of VMS. What video surveillance solutions really differentiate the company? The first product we released in the U.S. market was in 2003, and it was an LPR analytic, not a VMS. A year later, we released our first facial analytics. We didn’t release a VMS until 2006. We are an analytics company first. I would argue with 26 years of experience, more than 20 patents on video intelligence, and over 100,000 deployments internationally, we are a global leader in video analytics. So, yes, we have what people would think of as a “VMS” in that we have a very robust, enterprise-level ready module for video search, archiving and recording. What differentiates us is that we put high-trust, deep learning ana-lytics first. We ask the customer: “What do you want to learn about AI ISS has been primarily known for its success around the globe. How is the North American market different, and why is it a good fit for ISS solutions now? Powell: I have worked in both man-ufacturing and integration, and one thing that always surprises me is how integrators and customers in the U.S. and Canada are constantly finding new ways to apply “security” technology in many fields. North America is filled with these cases, such as cameras lining the sides of our highways, and these uses build up segments of the market – integra-tors, consultants, distributors who focus on just one vertical.
