KATHLEEN CORNELY

KATHLEEN CORNELY has been appointed the Robert H. Walsh ’39 Endowed Professor in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Providence College. It is the college’s first endowed chair in the sciences. A professor of chemistry and biochemistry for more than 25 years at the school, Cornely holds a bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University, a master’s in biochemistry/endocrinology from Indiana University Bloomington and a Ph.D. in nutritional biochemistry from Cornell University.

ROWENA ORTIZ-WALTERS

ROWENA ORTIZ-WALTERS has been named dean of the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University. Previously dean of the School of Business and Economics at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Ortiz-Walters holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Connecticut (UCONN), an MBA from the University of New Haven and a Ph.D. in management, also from UCONN.

SCHNAVIA SMITH HATCHER

SCHNAVIA SMITH HATCHER has been appointed dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Alabama. Most recently director of the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Hatcher was previously the founding director of the Center for African American Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Spelman College, a master of social work degree from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in social work from the University of Kansas.

LARAISSA DAVIS-MORRIS

LARAISSA DAVIS-MORRIS has been named admission coordinator at Chattahoochee Technical College. Previously an admission counselor at the college, Davis-Morris holds a bachelor's in elementary education and special education, a master's in adult and higher education, a master's in special education and an Ed.D. in educational leadership in adult and higher education, all from Morehead State University’s College of Education.

CATHERINE M. PADEN

CATHERINE M. PADEN has been appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Franklin Pierce University. Currently deputy provost and a tenured faculty member at Simmons University, Paden holds a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and a doctoral degree in political science from Northwestern University.

KERRI-ANN M. SMITH

KERRI-ANN M. SMITH has been named the Inaugural Faculty Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity at Queensborough Community College. Associate professor at the institution, Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Africana studies from Binghamton University, a master’s degree in English education from Brooklyn College and a doctorate in education, also from Binghamton.

KURTIS TREVAN

KURTIS TREVAN has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Western Michigan University. A citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians and previously treasurer for the Tribal Council, Trevan is currently the CEO of Gun Lake Investments. He is an alumnus of the university.

GERALD COURNOYER

GERALD COURNOYER has been named vice president of development at Bacone College. An Oglala Lakota artist, Cournoyer has directed the college’s School of Indian Art program since 2018. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Oklahoma as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota in interdisciplinary studies.

MICHAEL ELIZONDO JR.

MICHAEL ELIZONDO JR. has been appointed director of the School of Indian Art at Bacone College. Previously an adjunct professor at the school in 2012-13, Elizondo has spent the past four years working to revitalize the Cheyenne language. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.

STARSHA JAMERSON

STARSHA JAMERSON has been named director of the Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center at Mississippi State University. Having joined the staff at the center in 2016 as an educational services coordinator, Jamerson holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration from Mississippi State University.

NAYDEEN GONZALEZ-DE JESUS

NAYDEEN GONZALEZ-DE JESUS has been appointed executive vice president of student success at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Most recently public diplomacy officer for the U.S. Embassy in Argentina and previously vice president of student affairs for Bergen Community College, Gonzalez-De Jesus holds a bachelor’s in journalism from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s in student personnel services from Rowan University and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Northcentral University.

ASHLEY IRVIN

ASHLEY IRVIN has been named director of marketing and communications at Xavier University in New Orleans. Acting director since April and previously a communications officer for the City of New Orleans, Irvin holds a bachelor’s in mass communication from Loyola University and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.

ADRIANA LAU

ADRIANA LAU has been appointed controller and director of related entities in the Office of Administration and Planning at the Borough of Manhattan Community College of the City University of New York. Most recently associate director of financial reporting in the Office of the University Controller, Lau holds a bachelor’s in finance and management information systems from the University at Albany of the State University of New York System and an MBA in finance from Pace University.

MARIA ANGUIANO

MARIA ANGUIANO has been named executive vice president of Learning Enterprise at Arizona State University. Most recently senior vice president of enterprise strategy and planning at the university, she holds bachelor’s degrees in economics-accounting and Spanish from Claremont McKenna College as well as an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

JOHNNY M. MOORE

JOHNNY M. MOORE has been appointed chancellor of Arkansas State University-Newport. Most recently president of Pierpont Community & Technical College in Fairmont, West Virginia, Moore holds a bachelor’s in mathematics from Philander Smith College, a master’s in mathematics from Arkansas State University and a Ph.D. in mathematics education from the Florida Institute of Technology.

DEBORA JACKSON

DEBORA JACKSON has been named dean of the Robert A. Foisie Business School at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. Most recently the director of operations for the nonprofit All Girls Allowed, Inc., Jackson holds a bachelor’s from Indiana University Bloomington, master’s degrees in management and manufacturing engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute as well as a master of divinity degree and a Ph.D. in ministry from Andover Newton Theological School.

NICOLI RICHARDSON

NICOLI RICHARDSON has been appointed deputy equity, equality opportunity, and Title IX coordinator in the Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX at the University of Southern California. Recently a senior investigator in USC’s former Office of Equity and Diversity, Richardson holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Stanford University and a law degree from the University of Miami in Florida.

JAME’L HODGES

JAME’L HODGES has been named vice president for student success and engagement at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. Most recently associate vice president for student success and engagement at Virginia State University, Hodges holds a bachelor’s degree in English and mass communications from Virginia State and an educational doctorate from the University of Southern California.
